Villa Noir

Villa Noir sits on a narrow urban plot in Kochi, and the brief was simple: give a family of four privacy from the street without losing daylight. The response is a house that turns inward - a series of courtyards and light wells thread air and sun through the plan while a near-blind street facade holds the noise of the city at bay.

Board-marked concrete, teak screens, and a restrained material palette let the architecture recede so daily life can take the foreground. Every room opens onto green - a planted threshold, a courtyard, or the rear garden - so the house never feels sealed despite its guarded street presence.
